Happy Almost New Year...
although it is already 2008 elsewhere in the world. I can't believe it's been over a month since my last post..and in order for me to get one in for the month of December, it was now or never. Hmmm..what has happened since my last post...
I managed to get through my Spanish class with an "A" for my final grade! Yay! I still have a 4.0! As a thank you/Christmas gift, I made this scarf for my professor.I used "Incredible" ribbon yarn in a simple dropped stitch pattern and added some bead trip to the ends.
(I knit it Thanksgiving Day during the marathon meal at my brother's house.) It was a fun class and I would love to continue with it, but this semester is my crazy drama one, and I am not sure if I can dedicate the time to it. I am still debating though, as I would hate to lose the skills that I have already aquired. Must think on this...
I sent out and received my Ravelry Scarf Exchange package during December also. I can't begin to describe how much I love my scarf that Danido from Las Vegas sent to me, along with all of the other goodies. Here is a photo of the package that she sent me.
The contents were wonderful. There was, of course, the wonderful scarf itself. There was an additional skein of the yarn she used, Berocco "Peruvia" in a gorgeous heathery green. I plan to make some matching fingerless gloves. I managed to find more skeins of it at a LYS, so I may even make a matching hat! There was some yummy candy and really cute stitch markers which were all native critters to Alaska! In addition, Danido sent some really cool hand dyed yarn in a purple colorway that she dyed with Kool Aid! Beautiful! Here is a photo of the scarf, which I wear constantly!
Thank you again, Daniella!
Here is a photo of the package that I sent to my swap partner, DeliriousDuckie..AKA Linda.
She is in Florida, so I hope she gets to wear the scarf I sent to her sometime. I used Misti Alpaca in a really pretty autumn colorway. I want to make something for myself from it now, it is soo yummy! The pattern that I used for the scarf was Brooke's Column of Leaves. It worked up wonderfully, don't you think?
During the past month I also managed to get a few Christmas gift knitted..some slippers (here in the prefelted stage) and a scarf for my oldest DD.
The slippers are Fiber Trends Felted Clogs
and the scarf is from a Morehouse Farms Merino Kit called "Swiss Cheese Scarf". I bought the kit at Rhinebeck, but I didn't care for the color yarn that came with it..something about green cheese wasn't very appealing to me. So I changed the yarn to Debbie Mumm's Tradtions in "Beeswax". I loved the colorway and the way that the scarf turned out, but the yarn itself was a PITA to work with. It kept bunching up onto it's core and I had to constantly stop and pull it smooth while knitting. I really like the finished scarf, though, and so does DD.
I made these legwarmers for my youngest DD from my own pattern, basically just a K2P2 rib for about 13 inches using Bernat's Super Stripes yarn. She likes them.
DH also gifted me with some yarn for Christmas. He gave me 2 skeins of Joann Sensations "Licorice" in a great green colorway. It is 100% wool (I trained him well) in a bulky weight. Here is what I made for myself the other night while watching the Patriot's play their record breaking game agains the Giants.
The pattern is the Mobius Tube Scarf. It knit up very fast on size 13s, although I made it shorter than the pattern called for and if I make another one, I will make it shorter still. I still have almost a complete skein left, so there may be a hat or some trimmed mittens in my future too.
ok..I think that is quite enough for the marathon blogging. I resolve to be more regular in my posting in the future and stay current with the events, etc., in my life. Although..where have I heard that before???...Happy New Year~!
