April in Paris...sigh..I wish!....
But this year it wasn't to be. An hour before we were supposed to leave on our spring vacation to London and Paris, we got the call that the trip was off, our flight had been cancelled, we weren't going. A little whole in the ground in Iceland had destroyed our plans. Am I angry..you bet! I still haven't unpacked, I am in denial..it's been 5 days and I keep hoping that things will change..Fat chance! I should be grateful that we are on this side of the ocean and not stranded like so many other passengers trying to get back home from Europe, but that thought is only slightly comforting. That damn volcano was dormant for over 200 years...it couldn't wait another 2 weeks before it blew? I mean..are you kidding me? Oh well..
I have been sleeping late, partially because I needed to catch up on some sleep, but mainly because I am depressed about the entire vacation situation. I did drown my sorrows with some online retail therapy in the jewelry area, and later today I might take a trip to the LYS to see what I can encounter there. I had budgeted most of my souvenir money to fibery things, so it couldn't hurt to look at what's new in the shop. I have been very good about only knitting from the stash, so I think I deserve it. I am also planning on attending a local sheep and wool festival this Saturday, so there may be other opportunities to enhance the stash then.
I have been the tiniest bit more productive in the knitting area thanks to the unexpected gift of time. I pulled out my Mr. Greenjeans sweater that had been languishing in the WIP bag for sometime. I found a mistake about 8 inches back in the knitting and debated about leaving it or ripping it out..I opted for the frogging. I know it would bother me if I left it, and now that I had the extra time, I decided to attack it. It's also not a portable project anymore, and seeing as I wasn't leaving the house much this week, what the heck right?
On the reading front..I'm way behind. By 7 books at this point. But perhaps I will also gain some ground in that area this week too. And there's always the summer.
Well, I guess that's enough venting for one session. DH made another big purchase last week..here is a photo:
I would be seeing a lot of these in real life if I were in England this week...grrrr!

Oh no!!! I can't believe that! I'd been thinking of all those poor people stranded in Europe but not anyone who wasn't getting to go. That really stinks, Nancy, and I know you needed a vacation. Boo.
On the plus side, the car is great!
