Yikes..it's been awhile...

And life goes on. There is no possible way that I am going to be able to remember all that has taken place in the past couple of months. Let's just leave it at lots. Some things have been great...others not so much. Life goes on..oh well.

One of the wonderful things that happened in April was my vacation in Europe. My daughter and I, along with several other adults and students, spent 10 days in Greece and Italy. It was amazing! Athens and some of the Greek islands, Pompeii,Sorrento and Capri and then Rome..Fabulous! As an art history minor in college, many hours were spent studying many of these places and artifacts. But when actually standing in the Sistine Chapel looking up at that amazing ceiling...well, let's just say that I was overcome with emotion. Here are just a couple of the literally thousands of photos that I took on the trip.

The Temple of Athena, Athens
The Greek Island of Poros

The Isle of Capri->

The Colloseum in Rome

It is hard to capture the beauty of all the sights that were seen in the ten days that we were there..all of them were images and memories that I will treasure forever.

On the knitting/quilting front here at home, not a whole lot of progress. One of my quilt guilds held it's bi-annual show in early May. I did submit a few of my quilts for exhibit, but none of them were new ones. I now have two more years before the next show to get some of my current UFO's completed. Knitting wise, I have done a couple of things. I have been working on my Jaywalker socks, having to start the pair over because of dye lot issues. I have also been working on a pair of "Earl Greys" that haven't seen the light of day for some time now. I did finish these as my SAM5 pair for the month of May:
The pattern is Taraknits "Chunky Ankle Socks" knit in Bernat Softee Chunky in the "Nature's Way" colorway. I used size 7 dpns.

I also started this scarf on the trip to Europe. I began it while riding on the bus for five hours crossing Italy from coast to coast. It is the Lace Ribbon Scarf by Veronik Avery from the Spring 2008 issue of Knitty. I am using Euroflax Linen yarn in "Aqua"; the color reminds me of the Mediterranean.

Besides my scarf, I have also been working on several rounds of the Traveling Scarf Swap from Ravelry. It has been great fun. We started by creating a 4-6 inch section using our own pattern/yarn choice. Then it is sent on in a specific rotation (round robin style) where each participant adds to it in their own pattern/yarn choice in a 4-6 inch section. By the time the scarf returns, it is apx. 60" long and has been contributed to by 12 people. The real challenge has been to decide which yarn to use that the recipient will like and also choosing a compatible pattern. It has been great fun to experiment with patterns that I have never attempted before.

The biggest news in our house is the arrival of my new baby girl...hedgie! I am finally a hedgie mom! Here name is Truffle and she is almost two months old. She is a cutie..but don't take my word for it..see for yourself!

I will keep everyone posted on her progress and antics..she's a real character! Actually, I think I will go and play with her right now! Till later!
