Wow...where has the month gone?...

It seems as if I keep repeating myself, but this past month has flown by. I can't believe it is October already. This is my favorite time of year. I love all of the color changes in the trees and the fact that is it officially "sweater weather"!

I really need to upload some more photos to the site, even though production has been pretty slow. I have been working slowly on the mates to the Socks for Soldiers socks...I really need to get them finished and sent out by the middle of the month to make the first shipment deadline. And for that reason and for an additional incentive, I just recently joined ...

Socktoberfest!

It's a month -long- knit- along - sort- of- thing which is just one more motivational tool to get my socks off the needles and onto peoples' feet! Feel free to join the fun by clicking the button in the links section.

I have been busy reading and writing for my college class..it really is time consuming and yet I am really enjoying it.. (even though I am the geezer of the class!) I am already looking at next semester's course schedule....

On the quilting front, I recently went to a local event that was the first of it's kind, at least around here. It was called "Quilter's Day Out" and was a fun event where various quilt guilds gathered to have a sit-down luncheon with vendors and guest speakers and lots of social sharing. The guest speakers were Joan Shay and Karen Coombs. They each presented a wonderful trunk show and were very entertaining. I even won the table centerpiece...5 fat quarters and a pretty fall arrangement. It was almost like a quilt show, only there weren't any quilts...lots of fun and they are already planning another one for next year.

I really need to get a few of my quilting ufo's done soon as one of the guilds that I belong to is having a quilt show on October 21st..yikes! I did manage to get a table runner done too, although it still needs to be quilted. It was a summer challenge from the same guild as the show, and in a blind "viewer's choice" vote by the guild members, it won second place (even in it's unfinished state! imagine if it was finished...) Photos to follow soon...promise!
