I've Been Busy...

Now I know why they call it "March Madness". This month has been just a whirlwind of activity...where do I begin.

I have been really busy with our High Schools Drama Festival activities this month. We hosted the preliminary levels and I was in charge of concessions, among other things. Such is the life of a production assistant, which is my "official" program title now. We advanced to the semi-final level, with my daughter receiving an award for set design..a very proud moment for Mom me! At the semi final level, which was two weeks later, we didn't advance, but my daughter again won an award for set design! Woo Hoo! I wept! LOL! Yesterday, my daughter and I went to see the final day of performances at the state finals, and it was a great day. I'm so happy that, as a sixteen year old, she still enjoys spending time with her mom. Working with kids every day at the high school, I hear them constantly complain about their parents..how much they hate them. I am sure, for various reasons, that is true. I am just completely grateful that my situation is just the opposite. But enough of that..on to the knitting for the month.

I did manage to complete a pair of socks for the SAM5. Although I had planned on finishing my Jaywalkers, which I have been working on and off for several months now, I knew that I wouldn't. So I started these on Easter Sunday and finished them this past Friday..a record six days for me! Granted, they are done on size 3 needles and are made from a worsted weight yarn and are anklets, but for me and my life..six days is amazing! It was an easy pattern, but if I were to do it again, I would do a traditional heel flap instead of the garter row flap. The pattern is Mini Cabled Socks and I used Paton's Classic Wool Merino in "Worn Denim" on size 3 dpn's.

I've also been working on several swap packages and charity items. A beaded scarf for a fundraising auction, four hats for the Seaman's Church Institute (originally there were 5, but DH latched onto one of them),and several costumes for our high school's musical which is this weekend. I am sooo ready for a vacation, which thankfully is coming up in a couple of weeks! Then it's off to Italy and Greece for 10 days! Bellisimo! Ciao for now..
