I am going to try...

to keep postings more current this year. There..another resolution committed to the page!

Some of my latest and, I am happy to say almost finished items, are scarves for The Red Scarf Project. I found the organization through some of my blog surfing and, because I have a child in college myself that I send care packages to all the time, I really felt the need to make something for these motivated students. If you would like more information about the organizatioin and The Red Scarf Project be sure to click the button in the links section.

Here is one of the finished scarves. The pattern is from the 2007 Knitting Pattern a Day Calendar. It is called Samuel's Red Heart Scarf by Sandra Bennett and is knit in Woolease Cranberry. (the photo makes it look a bit more light and pinkish than it really is.)

The other one is still on the needles. I need to get it finished and mailed, as the project sends the red scarves out to the students in February for Valentine's Day. They accept mailings throughout the month of January only, so I need to get these off ASAP. The second scarf is The Rib Of Doom Scarf from The Thrifty Knitter. The photo doesn't do it justice, as the pattern is really deep and fun. I need to retake it so it doesn't look like it is glowing like something nuclear!

Here it is in the newly started state. It too is knit in Woolease, but this time the color is Ranch Red.

Happy New Year!?...

It's been three months today since my last posting. I sound like a broken record, but my life is just whizzing by! I can't believe the holidays have come and gone and we are now into a new year!

As the title of my blog implies, I am terrible at finishing things. Every year my number one resolution is to make a commitment to completing things that I start. I am once again going to publicly resolve to finish at least one UFO before beginning anything new and to try and only use yarns and fabrics from my current stash. (We'll see how long that one lasts...)

I did manage to begin and finish several Christmas gifts this year. However, I did not remember to take photos of the items before giving them away, so I have no documentation. There were four scarves; one green basketweave pattern, one child's pink fun fur, one wool and mohair crochet potato chip scarf, and using the leftovers from the potato chip scarf, I made a crochet scarf for my mother. I also made another potato chip scarf, but ran out of yarn during the binding off. When the yarn is found, I will finish that one also and either keep it or save it as a head start on next year's gift giving. Here is a picture of that one:

In addition to the four scarves, I also made a Fiber Trend's "School Colors" hat for a friend's 6 year old son made from blue and black Woolease. There are some matching mittens still on the needles for him.

While on vacation over the holidays, I managed to make my first "intentionally" felted project. I think I am hooked! It was great fun! Here is a photo of my after felting..of course I forgot to take a before felting shot. The pattern is "The Mini Skull and Crossbones Tote" from HelloYarn.com. My version is done in Patons Merino in dark grey minus the skull and crossbones.
